I'm so glad they're playing Valentine's. It's a tiny venue but I enjoyed it when I saw Jesse Lacey/Kevin Devine there last summer.

I had an awesome time; I'm so glad I made the trip Sunday night! A big thanks goes out to the PATH train, without which it would not have been possible. Here's my insanely-super-tiny-mini-compact-quasi-review. After having to wait at least 15 minutes past the scheduled start time for the first opening band to come on at my first four shows, I was surprised to see The Narrative start promptly at 7:30. I liked their set, so I picked up their EP after the show from Suzie, who was really cool. Treaty of Paris was pretty good, I guess, although I didn't really get into them. I did enjoy Band Marino, though, as they were definitely different in a good way and they just seemed like genuinely cool guys. I think the theatrics involved with the performance of their last song helped a bit, lol; I'll likely be checking out more of their stuff. Straylight was Straylight, which I think says more than enough. I like how they continually switch up the older stuff, and I was especially happy to finally get to see The Perfect Ending performed live; that's one of my absolute favorite songs from the first album. I also really liked the way they did the chorus for Who Will Save Us Now, as well as the "half-acoustic" cover of Drain You. Everything sounded crisp and awesome, including the new stuff, and SR continues to be the only band who can keep changing their style and I love it all the same. There really isn't much else I can say that can do them justice, as they were -- yet again -- nothing short of phenomenal. I loved the venue, and the fact that it enabled such easy interaction with John, Shaun and Will made meeting them again even better than when I did the first time at the signing after the show at Irving Plaza last June. I must admit that I do miss Michelle, though, although I just found out about Destry today, which is exciting! On a side note, Carla, it was really cool to finally meet you, and I apologize for not talking much; I was seriously running on half-empty the whole day. Are you going to be at Webster Hall next month? If so, hopefully I'll see you there. - Jason
