Hate em or love em, you basically gotta have one.
I am computerless (of sorts- my phone has the Internet). My dad killed my laptop and the house desktop had kicked the bucket not long before that. So, while my phone is tiding me over in the meantime, I need a new computer
What kind of computers do you guys use? Do you like what you have? If you were to get a new one, what kind would you get and why?

I used to have a Toshiba laptop and it was terrible. It kept not reading the AC power cord and kept switching to battery, and then it wouldn't charge because it couldn't read the AC power. It took over a year and many trips to the factory and it finally works for the moment.
However, we're going to use it for photo editing because now I have a Sony Vaio and I love it. I have yet to experience any sort of problem with it. (I might have just jinxed myself.)
We've also had Dell desktops in the past that have been pretty terrible. The one I got for high school graduation completely just died on me one night and made weird noises. Our desktop right now is some generic brand to replace it because my dad doesn't know how to use laptops really.
Though, if I were to get a new one I'd want to get an IMac because it's supposed to be really good for photo editing and I like the features that come on it. But I'm really happy with my Vaio for the moment.

for what you're getting for the price you pay, Dells are pretty good.
i have a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop now and it's for normal stuff like surfing the internet, itunes, dvds/cds (for listening, watching, burning), and i have some other programs i've put on it.
i would like to get a mac book though...they're nice, but expensive.
it all depends on what you want. dell has the mini now. it's a small laptop that's mostly for internet use with light programs on it. it does, however, have a small hard drive, but you can get a 160GB portable hard drive for about $100 nowadays so....

i have no idea how my desktop PC's last so long. i think i've only had one crash. cuz i was ignorant to the sounds of hard drive in its early stages of biting the dust. maybe my dad working for intel and being good computers has its quirks. though nowadays he doesn't have time to work on computers anymore.
my bf is telling me to get a mac. i'm like why? i admit i kindasorta want a mac laptop and almost bought one a couple months back, but frick, my computer is fine. i may need to change the hard drive again soon, but it's soooo much cheaper than spending $1500. durr.

by the way, the sony vaio's are great. i had one back in 2000 for when i went out of state. i think that was when they had just come out on the market. it was awesome. the one i had was somewhat small and lightweight. it was soon returned though 'cuz i just wanted to use it while i was out of town.
they've been on the market for many years now (it's in its 8th generation or something) so it could be a good choice for you.

hmm... yeah. i had a dell which i replaced the hard drive on myself (which means it wasnt installed properly) but it worked well enough for me, until my dad killed it.
i thought about for a while about getting a mac next, but i dont know if i think that now. if someone wanted to buy me one, go for it! but since it will prob be me buying it, i prob will stick with a non-mac, but i think im done with dells. i havent been happy with anyone of the ones ive had or that my family has had, but they do have some decent deals sometimes, an they have those new colors, so i could get a green computer! but i dont want to pick a computer based on color...or do i....
