I've always thought that Your Own Disaster sounds way more like a Straylight song rather than TBS. Defnitely the song that resembles Straylight's sound the most. Love it. Very peaceful. Very calm. Hey lush, have fun...it's the weekend. Peace and out.
Edit: So a few of their lines are from other songs...pft. Atleast he doesn't claim them as his own in interviews and such...and I agree with the person who said that nobody beats Conor's writings. Very special stuff, that.

Everybody steals lyrics. Dylan made a career out of it. One of my favourite Springsteen songs, Racing in the Street, steals directly from Street Fightin' Man by the Stones ( "Summer's here and the time is right to go racing/fighting in the street"). The lyrics of my favourite band of all time - Manic Street Preachers - are a veritable college of quotes from poets, novelists politicians and icons.
Referring to the people you admire gives your songs depth and a sense of context and history. Besides, Jesse rocks. Hard.

word, biatches. i don't care whose lyrics are contained in brand new's, their CDs are fabulous. "scrumtrulescent." No. Stop it. That's my word. I was going to use that word for my peerwhatever interview when they asked me to describe myself in one word. Except I missed it. So I didn't get to use it.

People take other peoples lyrics. Change them a little, or put them back exactly the same in their song. It works. Everyone does it.
And Jesse sang background vocals on the really old TBS EP, from when they had their old singer. I'm pretty sure of this.
And I heard that Jesse sang part of the coldplay song in his, because a lot of people have compared the two songs together, saying they sound similar. Whatever. I don't know.
