sorry boss, but OC drums are way over priced in my opinion. plus they are famous for venting their snare drums...again...in my opinion, that is a TERRIBLE idea. and those compact toms??? on their website they even say that if you are looking for a fat snare drum sound vents are not for you. who wants a loud but thin sounding snare drum? same thing with compact toms, you get lots of attack with out much body or bottom end... to each his own i suppose, but they just go against everything i like about drums. i want big huge fat drums.
a friend said ocdp's new acrylic drums are pretty rad... but they'll cost an arm and a leg i'm sure... better off finding an old ludwig vistalite kit. then you get acrylic drums AND the cool john bohnam vibe.
mark oconnell played a black cat kit for all of 2 minutes and was sold on them.
just spend some time reading, and talking, and playing... learn whats out there. find out what sounds you like, and what sounds you don't... then find out what type of drums (wood, sizes, hoops, bearing edges, etc) have those characteristics.
abraham lincoln said - "if i had 10 hours to chop down a tree, i'd spend 8 of them sharpening my axe."
smart dude

Those are very wise words and honestly when Irecieved the OCDP kit, after waiting for like 5 months since i had ordered , I was dissapointed in the all of the toms. The kick sounds perfect though as does the snare. It's not vented so it's not as dry. I'm really looking into Black cat's, i just wish i had some prices Thanks alot for your wisdom will

you interested in a Zilly ZXT 16 in Rock Crash? yea, me neither. that's the only thing I can afford to get rid of right now.it's in great condition.... I rarely actually hit it... it just sits there and makes my set look pretty. those things are built like tanks... almost literally--they're so thick that they sound like crap. I'm tryin to get tics to the Graceland, Seattle concert on Nov. 5th. maybe I'll cya there if I can find money.

i have this really old ass cymbal...it's a 20" paiste ride, the paiste logo is completely worn off if there ever was one. the engraving says robert paiste trade mark swiss and that cool moon with a star in it design. i don't actually want to sell it, but i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much it's worth, and if it really is as old as it seems or just dirty... as soon as i get my digital camera back from my bro, i'll post a pic

i'm not super familiar with the paiste stuff. but it really depends on what series it is. it seems like with older paistes, the old black label 2002 series (which john bonham used) and the 602 series are the really rad ones.
though if there is no logo it might hard to tell the series... i think (not sure though) that the 602s might be engraved somewhere with "602". also, paiste might have a different engraved design for each series, meaning the moon/star might mean 602 or 2002 etc... but you'd need to hunt down more info.
next time you are in guitar center or samash or your local drum shop, check the modern paistes, see if they have a similar stamp.

I have this green Peace drumset... with a double bass pedal and some pretty cool cymbals. I cant tell you off the top of my head exactly what they are.... because my boyfriend has them.... since i hardly play, but i know theyre all sabian.... and one zildjian i think. I've had it for about 3 years and have played it a grand total of... probably 5 times. I had never heard of Peace before..... it probably isnt very good. But its a cool color! Yeah... I feel its too big for me. Then again... what do i know?

I have a Sunlight 5 piece, it’s probably the worst drum set ever. I don't think it is worth money any more. The cymbal stands are all broken and the set just doesn’t sound good. I still play it because it is all I have; I need a new set really bad.

This sort of deals with the topic, but if I'm looking for a crash cymbal, how much should a not half bad one cost? I'm not good enough to want to spend tons of money, but ballpark? Thanks.
