I just saw SR in Chico, and Will's drumming was even better than on the album. It kinda reminded me of Breaking Pangaea. He was selling merch after they played, but I didn't want to look like a fool. I thought "Hey I like SR and I'm a drummer; I should join in on this fun." One question: I know Fred Mascherino played jazz before Breaking Pangaea. Did you play jazz Will? Just wondering.

unfortunately no, i've never studied or performed jazz. early on i pulled a lot more influence from dave grohl than i did from buddy rich. only now in my old age am i realizing the true importance of studying, practicing, rudiments etc. i've started taking lessons and i'm hoping to expand my playing both vertically, as in technical improvement, and horizontally, as in a broader range of influences and styles.

Instead of Buddy Rich, you should check out Elvin Jones. I thought maybe you had played jazz because some of your fills are placed so tastefully, and you're darn good with triplet-based meters. And you keep your hi hat going the whole time like you were Art Blakey. Keep it up.
