Speaking of vintage snares, my music theory professor just got a snare drum from around the 50's, but the problem is that we can't figure out the manufacturer (or perhaps they weren't well known enough). It says "Jazzmaster" on it, but when I look for it online, I always find things about Fender basses. It's a Gretsch looking wrap (like a gold nitron sort of thing) and about 5" deep. I also have a 10x14 Gretsch round badge snare (with original rope snares) in blue and silver stripe sparkle that I could part with if you guys came back to Chico (or Redding, but that's not likely).

post a picture of the 50s snare and maybe myself and some other nerds will throw in our two cents.
the 10x14 round badge is tempting, but i think i've learned my lesson on marching snares. it seems like a good idea... but even my 8x14 is a bit much at times.
