Hey Will, I was just wondering what kind of cymbal setup you use (and anyone else for that matter).
By the way, the EP is stupendous.

right now i'm using all istanbuls, and actually they are all the traditional series... i have a few sultans but they are a little to dry for this tour.
14" top light hihat (on top) 14" top heavy hihat (on bottom) 18" medium thin crash 20" medium crash 22" dark ride
i've used a ton of different cymbals on past recordings and tours.
thanks! -will

I'm getting ready to buy a Zildjian ZBT set. It's gonna be great.
20" medium ride 16" crash 14" hi-hats 18" China
$199 at Guitar Center, comes with a cymbal bag too. I can't wait. ;D

oooh... zbt's? not so great. my old drummer had some of those. he broke the crash in a matter of weeks, and it only took a couple months for the hi hats to start cracking, and he isn't a very hard hitter either..... the ride held up pretty good though, i did really like it's sound too.

Guess it was a good thing I didnt get em. ;D I got the A Customs instead, Cast Bronze baby. They have a really classic sound to them.
16" Crash 18" Crash 20" Ride 14" Hi-Hats
Was about $600, got the 16" Crash for free.
also got a 12" handmade Wuhan China, was a steal, $10.
Also picked up some cow bells, jam blocks, new stands, and a nice PDP double bass.
;D

i hate to sound like a prick... but i hope by "a steal" you mean they stole your $10. i got one of those wuhan china things free with some drum heads once, and i think i may have gotten ripped off.
anywho... good going with those A customs.

I like the sound of the Wuhan personally, it gives the crash cymbals a great accent in a beat I have for a song. It makes the really classic sound of the crash a little trashy and seems to almost boost the sound a bit, sounds neat where I use it.

no need to knock the wuhans. they are inexpensive and fairly thin, so they may break easily. but they sound trashy...and if its a china you're using...that's the whole point. i beleive neil pert has been using wuhan chinas for years and years.
i actually have two 12" wuhan splashes that i use as mini hihats on occasion. it works for recording acoustic stuff or trashy dance beats.
i personally love the underdog drum theory. i have quite a few ugly/shitty drums that sound great. usually i bring my ludwig acrolite snare on tour. it was designed as a student model drum but its got the same shell as the "pro" model Supraphonic. the acrolite has 8 lugs rather than 10, but i tend to tune my snare lower than most people, so that's an advantage to me.
if it works it works!

Mini-Hihats from splashes, that's pretty cool! Ill have to give that a try next time I buy some cymbals, Ill pick up some splashs. ;D Tell you the truth Ive only been into drums for about a year now, and I am still using an old "Enforcer" set, kind of a beginner set I guess. I thought about trashing the set itself when I get a new one, but changed my mind. I think I will hang on to it, maybe thier "distinct" sound will come in handy someday. Hopefully I'll be getting a really nice Gretsch set I have been eyeing over at the local Guitar Center for Christmas. Then I'll be jamming brutha.
