i'm sure dave grohl has come up more than once in another thread on here someplace. he was a huge influence on my drumming. ten years after nirvana is done and my kit is still set up the way it is because of his influence.

I think that Travis Barker (blink) and Chris Wilson (gc) are amazing drummers. They do really great fills and play with a lot of feeling. They are awesome. They are like my drumming idols cuz I strive to be as good as them when playing.

neil p is gotta be the best, you got travis, dave, buddy rich, phil collins, all up there and i think its all up to preference, to me my favorite drummer ever is carter beuford from dave matthews band, hes just incredable. I love his style, im listening to grey street right now, one of his more simple songs, and its just so unique, and so great sounding, even if your not a dave fan, if your a drummer you gotta respect carters style!

i don't think anyone has said anything about derek grant (alkaline trio) that guy is freakin' amazing.... but like will was saying dave grohl is the man. i have my kit set up similar to his also...but pat wilson (weezer) influenced that a bit too. that's another person that i don't think anyone has talked about....pat is awesome, he usually doesn't do things too fancy, but it all fits very well....i've seen a lot of drummers try to look/sound cool by doing some crazy shit that ended up making them sound like they were trying too hard to be cool or something...

another good one is jose pasilas from incubus. he does some cool stuff When I saw them this fall, the drummer blew me out of the water. 10 minute drum solo...not even joking you. The guy flippin' pulled it off and I had to pick my jaw off the ground.

i don't think anyone has said anything about derek grant (alkaline trio) that guy is freakin' amazing.... I agree, Alkaline Trio have had some great drummers, but Derek is definitly the best... that's also the reason he's my avatar.

hahaha, I can't believe I'm saying this, but YURI from MXPX. I think he's a pretty good drummer, although I'm not a fan of the music.

I listen to a wide variety of music, and a wide variety of players.
I am extremely fond of Dave Matthews Band and their drummer Carter Beauford. I love the tighness of his groove, and his ability to layer just about anything on top of the basic lick of a song.
I am a big Danny Carry fan (TOOL). The man is crazy-all of his parts, like everything in TOOL, just fit, and that is no small task. It's a crazy band...odd meters coming out the wazoo...polyrhythms...time bends...the whole bit...
I am still a pretty decent fan of Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater. The band is just over the top, it's a rush of sheer chop maddness.
Vinnie is well...Vinnie. I mean the man plays Zappa and makes Bozzio leave the room with his sight reading. He is just naturally increadable when it comes to his playing...and he plays just about everything!
Most recently (just today actually) I listened to From First To Last...I have no clue who the drummer is, but he plays some pretty cool patterns...he is a ride bell man...like me...so I have sympathetic ties...
