Hm, where to even begin.. My personal favorite drummer is Matthias Gruber, of Steel Train. The man has got a great sound, he may not have the best chops, but damn he sure knows how to groove with the rest of the band.
Best feet would have to be JoJo Mayer, if you haven't seen his 98 video from drummer days check it out simply amazing chops both hands and feet. His latest gig as drummer for Nerve, that is just plain cool. He tries to emulate a drum machine playing drum and bass grooves on a kit, it's really impressive stuff.
And lastly, the legends. Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Neil Pert. Gah, too many to name, theres so much amazing talent.

I've just started getting into Coheed and Cambria and I really enjoy their drummer's work, especially on the 2005 album.

I'm really surprised (a phrase which has been used quite a bit on this post already), that Steve Gadd was only mentioned once and towards the end of the post. Next to Buddy Rich, I think it is almost a non issue regarding Gadd's supremecy on the kit. The guy both inspires me, and makes me want to shred my kit every time I hear him play. Vinnie Colaiuta, who played with Zappa, Chick Correa, and Sting is also unblievable, as is David Weckle. As a drummer, personally, my main influence is Beauford (what drummer of the last 15 years has he not influenced?). Under the Table and Dreaming was the first secular album my parents allowed me to buy (before then, it was all Christian stuff, which wasn't too bad then, though the quality of Christian music today is sub par). It was 1994, and I had just picked up the drums. It is amazing the impact that decision had on my drumming. To this day anyone I play with either in jazz, or funk, or in worship, says that I play "busy" and I blame it on (or give credit too, however you look at it) to Senior Beuford.
Also, Will, I love the little triplet fill at the end of the Tension and the Terror, and thank you for showing it to me. If you don't mind, I may just rip it off some time. Cheers!

I would have to say Buddy Rich is is one the greatest of all time, but personally I like Danny Carey from tool, Mike Portnoy from Dream theater, and Carter Beauford from dmb. On a simple but successful level I enjoy Ned Brower from Rooney, and Jason Swartzman's work in Phantom planet.

Some of my personal favorites would have to be Chris Adler from Lamb of God, Derek Grant from Alkaline Trio, Danny Carey from Tool,Josh Eppard from Coheed and Dave Weckl. Those are more modern drummers though, there is of course Buddy Rich and all those older guys. There are a lot of good drummers out there, but those are a few of my favorites. I can't remember them all off the top of my head. Oh, and we can't forget Animal. . .
