just wondering what the other drummers in here (including Will) uses...
I have a 4 piece Rogers kit from the early 70's in metallic blue that I love. I put new Zildjian cymbals on it and about 10 different band stickers on the bass head. ....sweetness.

I definitely just use some cheap-o Pearl set (as if sets are ever really cheap). It's a five piecer with all pearl everything except a camber 2 crash and some heads, of which I forgot the brand. I should really play more but life is getting oddly busy...

i'd love to check out a rogers kit someday, i've only played a few snares of theirs.
typically i'm playing my '04 black cat custom kit: 24x18 kick 12x9 tom (woodhoops) 14x12 fl tom (wood hoops) 14x8 snare
then there's the '66 lugwig: 20/12/14 and my old pearl session series: 22/10/12/14/16 and the 30/40s WFL kit: 26/11/13/16 plus matching wood snare
random snares: pearl sensitone brass w/ vintage clip hoops 14x5.5 ludwig supraphonic 14x5 2 x ludwig acrolite (70s+90s) 14x5 custom UK birch 14x6.5 pearl masters custom maple 14x5.5 WFL mahogany 15x7 tama artwood birch 14x8 70s slingerland chrome over steel 14x5
hopefully i'll be trading the supraphonic for a 40's slingerland RadioKing student model.

I use a cream-white Tama thingy that just plain sucks. it sounds like crap and looks like crap... if crap were white. anyway there are 5 pieces and 6 cymbals: 13 in Zillie ZBT HH, 14 in ZBT crash,18 in ZBT crash/ride, 8 in ZXT Flash Splash, 10 in ZXT Flash Splash, 12 in ZXT Flash Splash, and a 16 in ZXT "rock" crash that sounds more like a crappy ride cymbal. it's a cheap setup, but, hey, I'm poor.

stridethrurain,
why not tell us what kind of tama kit you have? you might think its crap, but maybe the drums you have are better suited for different tunings or different heads or playing styles.
if you are trying to play metal on a tiny jazz kit with thin heads, it might sound real weird, but give it to an old jazz cat and he'd be super happy with it.

very well, I'll elaborate: it's a Tama Swingstar 20x16 BD 12x8 HT 13x9 MT 16x16 Floor tom 14x6 SD the kit probably isn't as bad as I make it out to be. I'm sure if I'd just opt the money out to change the heads it'd sound alot better. perhaps I am just too quick to claim hatred of it than I ought to be.

I have an oldish Tama Rockstar, in White.
20" Bass Drum 12" & 13" Mounted Toms 16" Floor Tom 14" Snare 14" Zildjian ZXT Hi-Hats 16" Zildjian ZXT Crash 20" Zildjian ZXT Ride
I only use one rack tom at the minute...
I used to have other cymbals, but they got stolen, and I had a gig that night, so I bought the ZXTs to keep me going in the meantime.

do your research!
orange county uses keller shells! same as 90% of the custom drum companies out there. and i'd bet that every single company out there has lower prices than orange county. Keller shells are GREAT shells, don't get me wrong, so if you bought an OCDP kit you'd have a great sounding kit i'm sure, but you'd pay out the butt for it. i would suggest researching a little bit and seeing what other options there are, cough coughblack cat cough cough.

i'm playing a fairly crappy 4 piece CB set i picked up a few years ago. i'm using some random cymbals i got at a yard sale, a 22" paiste ride (old as hell says robert paiste on it instead of just paiste like the new ones), a zildian crash, some nuvader hi hats (hadn't heard of them either), and a no name crash my music teacher gave me. yeah, yeah, i'm a cheap bastard i know.
