and my old pearl session series: 22/10/12/14/16 -w I remember that pearl set. Good times. Personally I have an old rickety ludwig set with some paiste cymbals. Perhaps I should dust it off and give it a whirl. Although I do have a roland v-set to record with. Rubber plays a lot different than regular heads. Midi makes recording more interesting.

Oh yeah, I've got the plain-Jane Pearl set with nothing too special. No crash cymbol, though. I need to get myself one.

I have a really crappy sunlight four piece; it’s pretty much a pile of poo with new drum heads and cymbals. I have alot of trouble with my hardware too. It's all falling apart. I also tried removing the wrap and putting a finish on it, but I didn’t really know what I was doing so it didn’t turn out great. It has been a good starting set but I think its time to move on. I’m going to keep it around though. I’m looking at buying one of those new pearl export five piece sets. I think it would be a good set for me but what do I know.

I've got a 4 pc Allegra Kit with a 20'' BD, 10" & 14" toms (I like my 10, but I'm a jazz guy) and a 4x14 snare. I play mostly Zildjians, except for a 22" Paiste 2002 ride. That thing's a beast. Allegra makes their own shells, hardware, just about everything except heads. allegradrums.com

Say Will, you mention 90% of custom drum companies use Keller shells. So I'm curious, what is it that sets Black Cats apart?

well, in some respects, nothing. that was basically my point. paul who runs black cat is very talented with his stains and laquer finishes. and his bearing edges are very clean. so i think he makes a great drum. but bill caldwell from C&C definitely knows his shit, he makes some great drums as well. there are tons of drum companies out there, and most of them probably do a pretty good job. that's all i'm saying, you've got options.

i recently upgraded a bit... it's a pdp cx fusion set. i leave out the 10" tom, and go it as a 4 piece: 22" bass 12" and 14" toms 14x5.5 gretsch free floating snare www.gretschdrums.com/?fa=snaresub&sid=322#20" paiste ride. i got it and a few other cymbals at a yard sale. it looks to be really old... no labels other than the engraved paiste name. 16" zildjian crash...yard sale...it doesn't say what series it is, it just says zildjian on the bottom, and concert band on the top...it sounds awesome though 16" sabian hhx manhattan jazz crash 14" nuvader hi hats...also from a yard sale...i love 'em 18" sabian aax china 6" zildjian zil-bel and i have a tama iron cobra double pedal
